WEST COAST REGION RED CROSS (WCR) BRANCH

 

The West Coast Region Red Cross Branch was founded in 1992, and since then, it has rendered numerous Health and Humanitarian services to communities within the Region, with particular focus on areas of Community Based Health and First Aid (CBHFA), Community awareness campaigns on Health including Meningococcal Meningitis A, Human Papilloma Virus, Polio Virus, Blood Transfusion, Community-Led Total Sanitation, and Ebola in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and GRCS National Headquarters.

 

Over the years, the branch has also been involved in the implementation of Disaster Preparedness and Response including DRR and Climate Change Adaptation in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency.

As part of its mandate in the humanitarian education of the population through the dissemination of Knowledge, Ideals, Values and Principles of the Red Cross Movement, and to the communities of the border villages, which are usually stroked with influx of refugees from the Cassamance Region of Senegal in almost every year. These and other humanitarian services rendered by the branch through its gallant volunteers as mandates of the National Society in the region cannot be over emphasized.
